Alpha Process Controls offer a very simple design breakaway coupling that provides safety for plant and personnel in the event that a road,rail or ship moves off while still connected to the loading arm.

This unique breakaway coupling is activated by a simple stainless steel pull cable that comes into tension a predetermined point before the loading arm exceeds it's normal working envelope. The cable then activates the shear pin which allows the collar to fall away. Both halves of the breakaway coupling immediately shut down and seal off the flow of product averting a major loss of product and potential disaster.
