Cryogenic Couplings

The only safety breakaway coupling, worldwide, with over 20 years of proven experience on cryogenic liquids. Cryogenic 1

The implications of a driveway incident on a cryogenic application are very serious. Not only is there a risk of cold burns from the liquid and gas, but also uncontrolled releases of oxygen can result in considerable fire damage and explosion. Releases of gases such as nitrogen can deplete the oxygen levels in the loading area, leading to asphyxiation of personnel.

Have peace of mind by installing the APC Safety Breakaway Coupling to help reduce these risks in driveaway incidents.

Benefits

  • Safety and security – APC's Cryogenic Safety Breakaway Couplings are recommended as a number one priority following Hazop studies by major industrial gases manufacturers.
  • Simple operating mechanism – APC’s Cryogenic Safety Breakaway Couplings operate simply with two opposing spring-loaded poppet valves that shut down quickly with minimal product loss in a driveaway situation.
  • Easily retro-fitted – The couplings can be easily retro-fitted into existing loading gantry pipework.
  • Rigorously tested – APC Safety Breakaway Couplings have undergone a wide variety of tests by the worlds major handlers of cryogenic products.
  • Materials of construction – Material suitability has been established following comprehensive tests on the APC Safety Breakaway Coupling that have included many live driveaway situations.

Testing and Cleaning for Oxygen Service

APC have comprehensive on-site oxygen cleaning facilities to ensure that the couplings are supplied in an ultra- clean condition as demanded by all industrial gases companies. Inspection is carried by ultraviolet light to expose any evidence of moisture, oil, grease, cleaning agents, flux or any other matter that may be present. All cryogenic breakaway couplings are rigorously pressure tested with nitrogen gas prior to tagging, packaging and despatch.
